Was just watching Cloverfield… I think for the second time. Apparently it went free on Amazon Prime sometime recently. Switched back to regular channels and it was a strange juxtaposition, they’re reporting 25 injured in Manhattan in an explosion, lots of wild speculation, clearly nobody knows anything yet, but Manhattan was of course the setting of Cloverfield, and the broadcast looked like it could have come right out of the movie. Not really an accident, I guess… several scenes in the movie were obviously designed to draw on emotional reactions to 9/11. Maybe all of it, really.

Just yesterday we were talking about the tragic alligator attack at Disney World, which one would have guessed to be one of the safest places on Earth.

Anytime, anywhere. Nothing is safe anymore, if it ever was.

Survivalism in these times, at least to some extent, is just sanity.
