I was about to post this as a response to defense of the series The 100 elsewhere on-line, but I really have to get out of that habit. It just keeps getting me banned or at least “shouted down” by the Politically Correct Police.

The series really is blatantly misandrist, or at least the first season is, which is all that I saw. The main character, a young woman, doesn’t even wait until she’s set foot in the colony in question before she’s barking orders in all directions by the authority of… oh, wait, she has no authority.  To demonstrate just how RIGHT this is, two male extras who are foolish enough to ignore her advice are immediately killed off because of it… and that’s the way it goes on, any male who questions her right to lead either turns into a villain or dies because of it. In general the females my suffer for it but of course THEY don’t die, because being female they are always capable of redemption later.

Here’s what I was about to post, a little out of context here, sorry:
__________

I didn’t say it wasn’t entertaining. I personally thought that it fell far short of its initial promise, but that’s irrelevant.

Let’s take another example- the British series Orphan Black. This is a well produced, very well written and amazingly acted series (the lead roles are an acting tour-de-force), unarguably excellent as entertainment and created by a team of very talented people… but again, in the entire series the ONLY male that is not evil or stupid or both is the main protagonist’s pointedly-in-your-face-gay brother.

Propaganda is propaganda. Doesn’t matter how well it’s done if the an underlying message is hateful.

It’s just so common and completely accepted now that nobody even notices anymore. Pretty much the only male role models that remain in media are either bad guys on the one hand, or Homer Simpson and Al Bundy on the other. It’s pretty much not acceptable to have a main male character that’s decent, strong and intelligent. That’s now only a woman’s role.

How do you think that’s affecting the outlook on life of your little brother, or your son’?

I’m not saying they don’t have a right to make this stuff, but I’m sure not going to pretend to agree with propaganda that disparages me for my gender.
